Kusadasi Turkey. Sunny Temp 25c.
We had a slow cruise overnight
from Athens and docked in Kusadasi about 7am. Our plans were to merely walk
into town to look at the shops and maybe use some free WiFi again not because
it is free but because we expect it to be faster and we wanted to do some
downloading. Kusadasi is the port from which tours to Ephesus leave. We have
been to Ephesus on a land tour so we did not go there this time. Which is just
as well, as we sailed at 12.30pm, which did not give them much time there. Our
shopping expedition did not net us much other than another frig magnet. There
are lots of clothing shops, all selling much the same goods. There were some
nice shirts which I was interested in and Betty saw a top she wanted. We agreed
that our approach should be to try to get both items at the same store so that
we could bargain for a good price. Eventually we found a shop which had both so
Betty tried on her’s first but after trying on 4 of ever increasing size she
decided they did not look so nice on after all so we abandoned the exercise. I
was not that keen to try on shirts which you have to do because you cannot
trust their sizes. The sales people at every shop hassle you which gets on your
nerves after a while. We did stop at a café and ordered coffee so that we could
use their WiFi. The coffee was not bad but the WiFi was useless, it was slower
than the ship, We will try again tomorrow in Istanbul. As mentioned we sailed
at 12.30pm. We had a quiet time in the cabin during the afternoon me reading
and Betty sleeping. After diiner tonight we went to the Vista Lounge to see a
very different act. Daniel Zafrani does Mime. First he came out of giant egg as
an ostrich, then he performed like a robot and finally he dressed in a long
coat and made it appear that his head came off his shoulders and down the front
of the coat. It is hard to describe the act but he was very clever and amusing.
