Livorno Italy Overcast Temp 26c
During the night we proceeded north and passed from the
Tyrrhenian Sea into the Ligurian Sea towards Livorno. The port of Livorno was known
as the” ideal town” during the Italian Renaissance period due to its structure
of fortified walls, canals and tangle of streets. Today cruise ships call here to allow passengers to visit
Pisa and Florence however as we have previously visited both on a land tour we
decided to just get the shuttle bus into the town and then catch the Hop on Hop
off bus. When we got there we found that it only ran once per hour and the 11am
trip was already booked out. So instead we walked around the town and had a coffee where they said they had WiFi but
they did not. We also went through the street fruit and veg market and bought
some beautiful cherries. Back on the ship we had a restful afternoon, recharging
our batteries ready for tomorrow’s full day trip in Toulon. Tonight at dinner
only Bev, Ian & us were there because the others had trip which did not get
back until late. Tonight we went to the Vista Lounge to see Dain Cordean, a comedy magician perform. He did a few
tricks and told some jokes and was quite good. Afterwards we went with the
Hughes to the Atrium to hear Dixieland music played by the Dawn Princess
Orchestra while we enjoyed a hot chocolate. What a way to round out the night. Sorry
I have not posted many photographs lately because of a port on nearly every
day. I have put some on Facebook for those of you who are friends of ours on
there. Sent
