Sea Day Overcast. Temp 20c Moderate sea.
Another port talk this morning which we all went to. It was
for the port of New London. We have already booked on a ships tour which
actually goes to Newport and visits the Breakers which is one of the mansions
belonging to the very rich. Last time we tendered at Newport but this time we
are going to New London where we can dock. There does not seem to be a great
deal to see in New London but more on that later when we visit. After lunch
Coral went to Bridge again (she is becoming an addict) Ian & I went to
another lecture by Graham Burns, this time about his service with Salman
Rushdie who you will recall upset the Islamics so much with his writings that
they threatened to kill him. Those protecting him would be in the firing line
as well, not that comfortable of a job. Salman Rushdie now lives in New York so
he is the American’s problem. This afternoon Betty, Ian & I went to an Ipad
get-together hosted by the Passenger Services Manager. As usual we all learned
something about our little toys. Unfortunately he did not tell us how I can get
off level 34 in Candy Crush but that’s another story. (Only iPad users will
know what I am talking about).
For Kay Laurie if you are still following this blog I spoke
to your friend Brian Quartermain today.
A new competition for carpet bowls started today called
“Lady Liberty Cup” but we have decided not to join as the sessions often clash
with other things we want to do.
For entertainment tonight we went to see Chris Watkins play
his violin with the Dawn Princess Orchestra. He is a real showman and is a good
violin player.
