19th May

We ordered a wake-up cup of tea this morning which arrived as requested at 8am. We are not sure we will do this every morning but we will see. After breakfast in the Horizon Court (Buffet) we started our program for today. First up a Port talk by Deborah Shields about Brisbane, not that we really need to know about Brisbane but we wanted to see what sort of talk she gave. She gave a very compressive talk and we look forward to others. Next Alan went to the Classical History Lecture “Rome’s Eternal Moments” by guest lecturer George Weston. His lecture was well presented and interesting, I am not sure if he will always be to my taste but we will see. Betty had a more interesting time looking in the Boutiques checking on what is good to buy and what is not. After lunch it was off to the first Ballroom @ Sea session to go through the Waltz. The instructor turned out to be John who was on our last world cruise but who got off in Southampton. This time he is going all the way. It was all basic stuff but good exercise and it will get better. After the ballroom there was Line Dancing. As soon as I saw who was going to lead it I immediately had my doubts as he was quite young. My thoughts were correct, I think he thought he was leading a group of 20yr olds instead of 55 plus. He started with the Nutbush which is a fast energetic dance not suitable to be the first one for beginners. We will be giving him a miss in future, there are lots more interesting activities to do. A note in our cabin told us that we had got a table change and were now on table 8 in the same dining room, the only problem was that there is no table 8 in the Venetian Dining room, after Bev had a run in with the guy on the door at the Venetian we found out our table is in the Florentine Dining room. We are now on a table for 8 with a couple from Victor Harbour and 2 ladies from, I am not sure yet. Bob the gentleman from Victor is glad to see us because he was concerned he may have been on a table with 7 ladies. Everyone seems very nice so we are happy now. Tonight the entertainment in the Princess Theatre was “The Fabulous Beatle Boys” a Beatle tribute band. They were quite good but not as good as the ones we had on the Aurora 2 years ago. Tomorrow is Brisbane.
